Where to buy Mast Raising system

I just picked up a 1997 X and the previous owners had a mast raising system.

Unfortunately some other boat in the boatyard made off with it. (Apparently it was laying with the MacGregor but got shuffled off to the side so that it could disappear)

Now I am not sure what all I am missing or where I could purchase another. In some videos/pictures I have seen the use of a boom crutch (which I also do not have). Was this part of the mast raising kit or is it a separate piece I need to buy.

Finally, when the yard was lowering the mast for me to haul it home, they did so before I got there. There was an extra plate lying near the base of the mast which I am sure went to it but I don't know for certain how it went. Does anyone know of a close-up image of the mast base that I could download?

Thanks,
Ed

I don't have a good pic, other than the ones in the manual, but the tabernacle is in two pieces. There's a permanent piece, mounted to the cabin roof, and there's a hinge piece about the same size that pins to the mast and normally stays with it. The piece on the mast is what pins to the two lugs on the bow rail for trailering and storage.

The normal, late model X mast crutch slips into the socket in the helm (hard to miss), but I don't know if Blue Water Yachts (BWY) sells them. The older X style mast crutch was a dog-leg thing that mounted somewhere at the stern, I think on the starboard side. Doesn't get a lot of love around here.

BWY does, however, sell the M version of the MRS (mast raising system), which has a 350lb brakewinch mounted to it. It's probably the favored system anyway for those who've used both types.

Go to the 'Resources' link at the top of every page, and on into the dropdown for 'Manuals'. For your convenience, here's the link to the 1996 manual.

http://www.macgregorsailors.com/manuals ... l_1996.pdf

On page 6, the mast base is shown on the butt end of the mast, bolted to the bow rail, and the mast crutch (carrier) is also shown.

Pages 9 and 10 have a few shots of the MRS and the mast base hinged to the tabernacle on the deck.

Edited to fix link.

Thanks for the tips. :)

Not sure that is the correct link though. That one took me to a economic analysis column.

How did that get in there? :?

I fixed it, for posterity, but thanks Topcat for posting the right one.
