I keep mentioning (threatening?) to make a small figurehead for my S based on a bust of my wife. :D

She doesn't think it's very funny. :P

Anyone else ventured there for real? 8)

Part of me thinks that's funny! :P

The part of me that remembers the horrors of owning an old speedboat which I had named after my wife and spent years cursing/repairing/being-towed/cursing again... it was awkward... :?

Actually, that's a neat idea. I've been planning on mounting a Star Fairy, gold leafed to the bow of Galactica. Although I will still do that, a couple weeks ago I found a chrome skull & crossed bones emblem in a performance auto-parts store. Having moved my navigation lights to thru-hull lights on the bow, I had removed the cheap incandescent factory nav light on the bow pulpit. That left a chromed bracket that I couldn't remove. I added the jolly roger emblem onto that bracket as my "Figure head" and it actually looks pretty good! 8)

Here is a picture, it only shows the bottom of the emblem but you get the idea.

And for those of you who didn't know this little tidbit... as we all know, on a sailing boat the wind generally travels from the stern to the bow (or at angles off the bow), so that any unpleasant smells tend to go away from the boat if - ahem - 'elimination operations' are executed at the furthest point forward on the boat. So, if one needed to perform a bodily function, one went 'to the head' (figurehead) where one would either find a ready-made hole to sit on or would grab a line and hang over the side.

Great tidbit. I knew the bow was where ancient sailors did their business but didn't know that head came from the figurehead. :)

Yep tried that once got my pants all wet when my butt almost slipped off the bowsprit :| of my :mac19: so when I got my :macm: I made the bowsprit catwalk a little more wider with a railing to keep my butt in place kinda like having a onboard bidet or should I say a outboard B !

Diametrically opposite the poop deck :D

Indeed.. which comes from the French word "poupe" which means 'stern', meaning the aft-most deck of a vessel at sea. ;)

Note to self... do not sail anywhere near Highlander, and especially do not swim in any body of water his boat has been.
