These are sealants made by 3M that are commonly used to seal hulls and decks together as well as bolt on keels to hulls. 3M 5200is tenacious stuff and will hold for a very long time. If I remember correctly, the 4200 cures to be a bit more flexible than the 5200.
Hope that helps!

Wayne: If there is a marine supply store near You , or an Academy sports store., They probably carry it/them. I ordered Mine from 3m's website. Use the 4200 if You think You might want to remove whatever piece You sealed with it....use the 5200 if You don't. West Marine also carries both. Best of luck. Ron.

For deck fittings, I use butyl tape that I got from a vendor on another forum. Marvelous stuff.

I've started using 5200 for deck fittings...can't see why I want it to ever come off. And 5200 still has some degree of flexibility even if it is not as much as 4200. Also, after several years, they both age and start deteriorating and will come loose, but the 5200 will likely last a few years longer since its tougher stuff. I think I also read once that below the waterline, you only want to use 5200 and not 4200.

Yep, I get 5200 at home depot. Paint dept with the glue. I haven't seen 4200 anywhere but marine stores.
