Attention all Potential MAC Purchasers Lurking or Otherwise

Post by Catigale »

Im posting this as a separate topic out of respect for all our Dealers

As far as I know, Macgregor dealers in the US do not have 'exclusive territories' and should not represent themselves this way.

Shop around !!!

If any dealer disagrees with this feel free to correct this post

Disclaimer
I have no business relationship with any MAC dealer whatsoever.

What's an e signature?

Cat, never thought otherwise. Just a matter of how far a fellow wants to travel. Who has been claiming to be 'exclusive'?

The dealer I used hauls these boats all over the country.

I'm routinely contacted by potential customers that have been told by another MacGregor dealer that they are the exclusive dealer for a particular state(s).
I've sold Macs to customers in 19 states, so far. Do I claim to be the exclusive Mac dealer for those states? No.
If you can buy a Mac, at a better deal than I offer, from anothe dealer, buy it.
I might be the shortest MacGregor dealer.
I've also heard that some dealers will only sell a boat that is loaded up with options, because that is the way it came in. This is what I was told when I wanted to buy a Mac in '90.
They now come in with a blue or white hull, and with or without brakes on the trailer. I keep all other Mac options in stock and help the customer decide which options are apropriate for him.

John,

Florida's federal courts (at least two of them) require electronic filing now and one files with an electronic signature. I believe that there are also substantive laws (rather than procedural rules) recognizing one's electronic seal or signature (a simple typing of one's name) as a binding signature. In any case, I was only pulling Stephen's leg. Happy sailing.

Not that I really care and have an interest in defending a dealer (I know there are some really bad ones), but if in some given state, MacGregor only has one dealer, then just by definition that dealer is in fact the exclusive Macgregor dealer for that state.

Not necessarily...

They may be the "only" dealer in that state, but exclusivity implies more...

If someone were to tell me that they were the exclusive dealer in my area, I'd understand that they were saying that they were the "only authorized" dealer who could sell to me.

Just curious, Stephen. What made you think of this issue? Did I miss another thread dealing with the issue of dealer exclusivity? I presume that someone is making that representation incorrectly?

Bill raised the issue in another thread, and I thought it was worthwhile to create a separate thread to address this.

Im 'partial' to Bill as he contributes to this board in many ways, and I felt obliged to make it clear to anyone lurking that, to the best of my knowledge, the Macgregor dealer network does not work with 'exclusivity' on a city/state/regional basis. If you are buying and dont feel comfortable with your dealer, exercise your rights under capitalism and call another dealer.

If anyone knows differently on the distribution network, please post.

I have no connection to any dealer and am not in the market for a boat

Looks like Bill and Stephen are in cahoots. Some kind of kickback arrangement, or somethin'.

You mean like You Yours and Mike Inmon at Inmon Yachts?
No, nothing like that. I've never met Stephen, never private messaged him or emailed him. He is not being compensated by me in any manner. The only contact I've had with him is here on this site.

We learn of many good contacts on this board. BWY out of Seattle is a good bunch. Bill4boats has always promptly responded with good advice/parts.

{By Private Message}: Now please would you two references send me the Dairy Queen coupons you promised before they expire on March 31st.
