The Stainless bar installed in front on the pedestal....we always called it the grab bar, binnacle gaurd, pedestal grab bar, OH %&$# bar...whatever....I want to get one for my 96X and can't find one manufactured....is their a site for this? Or, should I have a local manufacture one to my specs? Please advise.....Randy :macx:

Many Mac dealers offer them. There are two primary versions; The "small grab bar" is a simple small loop which bolts to the front of the pedestal. I have the "large grab bar" with legs that bolt to the cockpit sole. Besides the additional strength the large one also usually has the option of the folding cockpit table, with or without drink holders. The prices for the basic versions are fairly uniform, but those with the table option can vary considerably based on the sophisitication of the table.

I found the best price on the large grab bar with the basic version of the table at Powersailing. This one's $199.

Randy, I've got the Blue Water Yacht shorty that Moe is describing. I'll sell it to you for $25.00 plus shipping. Let me know if you're interested. Terry

Randy, I know the feeling. I am already looking 2 years for that Crab bar. But I have an extra complication living in Europe. Blue water do not seem to ship oversees. So I mailed Powersaling because I come over to the states in August and the Cleveland area is on my route. Chip are they still in business I mailed them twice but did not get any reply after 3 weeks? :(

I have the one Moe sent the link to on my 95X. I will be taking it off and replacing it with a bigger one. It's yours if you want it. Send me an email with your address and stuff.

I have my eball on this one from Dowsar Marine. Observe the nice folding table.

Duane Dunn has one. If you read his page, he describes it. Seems very nice.

Geez - that table seems pretty pricey at $449???

Im going to build a custom table for my :macx: which will serve the four of us for cruising better

Im having trouble finding Star board or the material...does someone have a source

It doesnt need to be marine grade

Does anyone know where I can buy the large grab bar (attaching to the cockpit sole), but without a table? I would rather build my own table for it.

HDPE cutting board material would work if cut and then hinges/hardware attached. Try this Site

Paul, the tangs for the screws are welded on at an angle to fit the curved front of the X pedestal. Unless the M has the same curve (and it looks flat in pictures to me), the tanks won't lay flat on the pedestal.

To purchase building materials such as starboard, refer to pg 446 in the new West Marine master catalogue, available at any West Marine store.

Star Board is used

I emailed BW a while ago about that part. They said it would fit. Just havent found anything similar that would fit off the shelf. I didn't want anything to go to the floor. If it isnt a perfect fit, I am sure I can fabricate something to make it work.

Catigale,

I've been ordering a lot of HDPE for a couple of products I'll be making in my new business. I've been dealing with Norva Plastics. They carry lots of HDPE, both marine grade and standard. They often sell scrap pieces, sometimes large ones, on ebay. Prices are rather reasonable.

Hope this helps.
