Nightmare. Mast was seriously bent yesterday. Any suggestions/recommendations as to the best source for a replacement? Thanks.

Search the forum - much info there. Best place depends on where you are located in relation to the source.

BWY sells just the extrusion for that boat, and you drill and mount your own equipment, but it's not cheap, and has to be transported. You might want to check with local rigging shops, if that's not a custom (to MacGregor) extrusion.

The mast for the Mac is indeed a 'custom extrusion', and I believe they are made by Dwyer specifically for MagGregor.

For proper dimensions, see here:

How bent? If you raise the mast and the stays straighten it, you do not need to replace it. Mine has been bent for three years but its fine once raised. I checked with the factory and that was the advice they gave rather than take the opportunity to sell me a mast.

Try it. You may find you don't have a problem. Do inspect the mast at all through-bolts for cracks, however.

Hi, I am in CA and needed a mast for my 2001 26X. I looked all around for a new replacement but the prices were high and shipping was a killer. So I checked with Craigslist etc and found an older Venture with the same size mast. I checked with the factory and Mike said it was good to go. I bought it for $300.00. It came with mast, boom, good sails and a clean trailer. BWY gave me the specs for the drilling the mast and supplied the new rigging, mast foot, spreaders etc. I gave the hull to a guy on craigslist who was looking for a water tank. In exchange he did all the hauling. I took the axel off and made my trailer a dual Had to buy two new wheels and tires as the old ones were shot. I cut up and scrapped the old trailer. The big problem in Ca is disposing of boat hulls. You have to have a valid title to prove ownership and many of these old fixer uppers don’t, having been handed from one well intended owner to the next. Hope this is of help. Go to BWY they are a wealth of information and will save you hours of research. BobW.

I bent my mast this year, found a replacement, good thing for insurance. I decided to go the summer without the mast. Will have it ready for the fall.
