Sewage pump out

Being new to the world of yachting I am discovering new surprises every day. The latest is that no where on the Sunshine Coast can you pump out a holding tank for free (council provided). I can go to the Mooloolaba marina but that will cost me $35 per pump, I only have a 30 litre holding tank so that is a ludicrous amount of money every few days.

Enlighten me, is this typical around Australia or is my council just way behind and expecting people to dump at sea (I have always loved swimming in our pristine beaches here but now I'm not so sure).

Luckily for me I can pump directly in to my sewage line at home but this is both a nuisance and damn inconvenient if my tank fills while enjoying my boat on the water.

What are you guys doing with your waste? (Those using porta potties are exempt from replying).
Cheers, Dennis.

Had similar investigations re pump out and decided a compost toilet was the way ...."Airhead" is what we ended up with and shared with our camper so was by far and away the best for us in both initial cost and useablility.A lot of places we want to go to have no pump out and if anything we want out of the way places for both our camper and our caravan on water (read Mac26X).I guess too that given the Mac's design dumping at sea is not really an option...ours doesn't see much open sea!!!
