We own a 26M 2012. We want to wash our main and genoa. The sails are in great shape.
Any recommendations greatly appreciated.
Thank you

Searching " wash sails" in this forum will also give some tips....look for a thread like "the stunning Judy B has new sails"

There was a similar post this week on getting blood out of sails. Probably some good points there.

If you read the tag, they will say "Dry clean only"
Just kidding.... so why do you want to wash them? They are practically brand new if 2012, are they dirty?

I havnt washed my M sails yet (they are only 5 years old

) but the last time I washed sails (on my last boat), I hand washed them in the bathtub using Napisan. One sail at a time, Just kind a swished it around for 10 minutes, and then let it soak overnight, and then rinsed out with cold water. Came out much whiter and brighter
I wouldnt be washing them too much, or they will fall apart quicker, especially if they are like the Doyle ones that came with my boat....

My thoughts too. While dirt on a sail will accelerate wear and decrease its life, the chemical and mechanical handling of washing it accelerates wear as well.
So it's a fine balance between the two to try and get the maximum life from the sails, and not to wash them until they absolutely need it. I'll be doing spot cleaning for as long as I can.

I have the sails on our 38' done professionally, due to their size.
Our Mac, I washed them on my lawn using a mild cleaner (convertible top cleaner) and a soft brush.. wet..wash..let dry. I tried to be as gentle as possible
