Where to mount TV
I have a 19" low power TV/DVD with a folding arm mount but not sure whre to mount it for max viewing pleasure on my 26M. MACR posted his mount on the mods page for a 26X but I can't make out where on the boat it is mounted. I think a position above the port seat 'bout opposite and just back from the centreboard housing. Unfortunately the mounting surface is slightly concave over the 9" vertical required for the mount base. I can't figure out how/what to shape to fill the concave and provide a flat mating surface for the swing arm base??

On the 26X picture you were referring to, I believe it was mounted to the outside of the head above the aft dining seat. I actually put an oak base to help spread out of the weight of the TV.

Starboard side just inside the companionway - It can swing out and be seen from almost anywhere in the boat. And as a real bonus, ya can also swing it around so that it is right in the companionway and facing out so we can watch movies in the cockpit at night.
Mines only 15 inch though and I'm not sure if you'd get that to work with a 19inch...

Re: Where to mount TV
Hey Stuendan,
As the previous posts and picture indicated, the TV is mounted just above the aft dinette seat. I did reinforce each side with a 1/4" thick PVC trim piece from Home Depot. The 12v socket is in the upper corner of the head, so it's out of the way.
I will update the mod with a better picture this weekend.

Updated Mod picture #1 with a better angle for showing mounting location.

Thanks Macr and Mac26Paul - thanks for the improved pics, I have just mounted a fire extinguisher exactly where you mounted yours, Mac26Paul as as you wwould know, its one of the only flat surfaces to hand. Cheers, guys.

Re: Where to mount TV
Yes, my fire extingisher is mounted there, but on the port side. However realistically, this is probably not the best place for it, as a bad flare up in the galley could make it hard to get to it....

Re: Where to mount TV
I tried using a DC TV, an older one from Best Buy with a power transformer in the AC supply cord. Worked fine on a 12 VDC adapter - as long as the batteries are on a charger. On pure battery power, it does not take much of a voltage drop to loose the picture. Plus, additional power cords for the DVD player were a pain. I gave up and used this as justification to buy an excellent computer (a 17 inch high def HP Elitebook - MIL-STD-810 hardened for moisture and shock) and use a Big Jambox for sound. I place the computer next to the sink. Battery lasts for a few hours, also has a 12 VDC adapter.

I like that solution, use a laptop as a DVD player.

Re: Where to mount TV
I mounted my TV in a similar location to Mac26Mpaul, but attached the arm to the starboard cabin wall using a tapered wooden mounting block overcome the curve of the cabin wall and to spread the load.
