A Work of Art

My daughter's father-in-law, Art Brooker, surprised me last week with this 1:18 scale model of Chiquita that he had spent months working on. He carved it from a block of cedar using templates he made from the lines drawings. He is not a sailor and there are a few rigging details that aren't quite right but it still looks great!

Lovely! I always prefer hand-crafted gifts, and this is a super one.

It's really nice in and of itself, but the time and effort put into it by someone else makes it priceless. 8)

What can I say? My rubber ducky found another job -- as the knob on the end of my outboard motor shifter extension!
