1979 V22 - New owner with questions.

Hello ... I just bought a '79 Venture 22 and have some questions, actually I have quit a few, but this will get me started.
1 - It has a kick up rudder, but there is nothing to keep it up or down. Looks like there should be a block and some line but I'm not sure on what goes where. There are two holes, top leading and trailing edges of the lower rudder assy.
2 - There are two Genoa tracks, kind short, but I only have one block for the port side ... but it doesn't look like it belongs there. Replacement suggestions?

First, Welcome Aboard!
I have a 1984 Mac 22, so the rigging may be similar. She also has tiny, seemingly purposeless Genoa tracks. Most of the deck hardware was made by Garhauer Marine.
www.garhauermarine.com . They may have made the tracks, or not. I'll look when I get home & try to guess.
You are right about the rudder uphaul/downhaul. On mine there is a heavy aluminum channel that the rudder pivots inside of. There is a block at the bottom to take the downhaul and a cleat at the top to tie it off. I just tie the uphaul to the stern rail, but that's sloppy & I should change it.

There is a a company that sells a really cool kick up rudder attachment that is handy. It basically is a pole with a handle that fixes to a base attached to the lower part of the rudder and has two points that the pole can snap into on the top section of the Rudder. It is a great upgrade. The part is not on his website but if you call or e-mail him he will send you pics of it. (disclaimer: I have no affiliation with this company and benefit in no way from plugging them.)

@chipveres ... you have a picture of the rudder setup?

On mine, the Genoa track is 7/8 inch. Please measure yours to make sure. All the sliders you could want are at
www.rigrite.com . They are good folks, and also have aluminum spreader tips in case the plastic originals are cracked.
I do not have a pix of the rudder but I'll try to get one. My downhaul has a block identical to the one for the spinnaker halyard. It's just bolted in place to the channel that carries the rudder. Look at the bottom of your rudder carrier to see if you might have the same setup.

Thanks for the link ... rigrite is a good find.
Another question ...is there supposed to be a cap for the mast top? Looks like there are some screw holes to secure a cap.

I can not find the spreader tips, just spent 45 minutes on the site ... can you maybe show me a link to them?

http://www.rigrite.com/Spars/SparParts/Spreaders.html is a link to the spreaders. When you click on a particular spreader size, it offers you the aluminum tips along with other accessories. I *think* my spreaders are 7/8, but I wouldn't trust my memory, nor that my boat is the same as yours. Please measure.
My mast once had a cap, but it is long gone. After some "bang the mast down" adventures, I consider myself lucky to have a steaming light let alone a cap.
