Hello, I'm wondering what the overall, tip-to-tip, length is of a MacGregor 26x on a factory trailer including up-rudders and engine. I'm trying to determine if one will fit in my driveway without spilling over onto the sidewalk too much and every inch will matter.

The mast on the carrier will determine the overall length...as to things at ground level.....

Rear of Mercury 50 HP shows 31 foot 5 inches marked (remember to take off 1 foot form above!!)




...and antenna/mast seems pretty close to same....

What Catigale gave you is consistent with my own measurements, give or take a few inches. I keep the engine tilted all the way up for trailering, and the end of the mast is just about even with it.

If you need a second opinion, I'll be pulling mine out of the canal tomorrow evening and can take a measurement.

By the way, you can retrofit your pole tongue with a fold-away adaptor for less than $100. You'd have to add a piece of braided flex brake line, assuming you have surge brakes and that there isn't already a length of flex there, but that's not expensive either.

By my measurements, you can knock two feet off the length of the tongue and coupler that way.

great suggestion on the folding trailer modification! that might just barely get it in there without hanging onto the sidewalk too much.

Can you wait until night and then move the sidewalk ?

PS & theirs always shrink wrap !

My hangs out into the sidewalk, but if I park it at an angle it clears the sidewalk. I just have to be really careful backing out of the garage.

While council-dingbat James should learn to look where she is walking (a license plate could have cut her worse), I suggest that having the trailer hanging over the sidewalk is hard to defend. If close, place an orange cone at the end of the trailer - shows you made a good faith effort to warn people.

31.5' but can be shortened by 5' with a fold away tongue. Folding Tongue adds between 500 and 800 bucks to trailer price.
