So Long and Thanks for all the fish.....

Post by davidbagnall »

Hi all!!!
It has been a while since I have posted so here is an update... I have just sold our much loved :macx:
My wife has been very ill for 2 yrs which hasn't left much time for sailing. Also she struggles with the whole mono hull leany over tippy thing which doesn't leave much opportunity at all to sail.
We bought a Trimaran, a Haines Hunter Super Tramp (also known as an Eagle in the States). This is a honey of a boat and the wife loves sailing on it. This is what the wife loves http://youtu.be/KCNGLy2edkM it is amazing how stable and quick this boat is in light winds! and this is I love http://youtu.be/2d3Y60kGbcs and it is still amazing how stable and quick the boat is in moderate winds!
Back to the Mac... I have spent the last 3 days showing all of the finer points to the new owner and the winds have been huge with yesterday winds up to 35 knots and today up to 30 knots. Yesterday we took her out and just had the jib up and I had almost forgotten how well the boat works and she kept up with much larger Keelers (and they say macs are slow!). Today we took her out in slightly less winds with boat reefed jib and reefed main. I managed to get some video as we were heading out http://youtu.be/iMjrEdm11Tk and as you can see we had an absolute blast! We had good boat speed (average 6.5 knots and a top speed of 8.5 knots) and smoked a few keelers and a Mac M (white one of course :P )
Anyway Thank you all for your support, comments, suggestions, assistance, entertainment and most of all Thanks for all the fish!! (Hitchers Guide to the Universe for those trying to work out what this stupid Aussie is on about)
I am and still will always be a supporter of Macgregors and wish you all the best!!!! (I will still lurk around and my 10c worth in from time to time).
PS If Roger is reading many thanks for a fantastic boat and put me down for a Tri if you ever get around to them 8) 8) 8) 8)

That looks like SO much fun going so fast. I'm sure the admiral will enjoy the level boat. I hope you have as much headroom.

Please keep posting some of your adventures. Thanks for being part of the fold.
