Anyone know the specs for the factory leaf springs on a 1994 MacGregor 26S trailer?

I had a spring fail while trailering and had someone come out to make an emergency repair. They used 26 1/4" springs rated at 1750 lbs. These seem too short as shackle now slants towards tongue instead of away and wheels no longer seem centered under fenders. Have removed one fender to avoid rubbing on wheel.

By any chance, did you mean 25-1/4"? 25-1/4" is a standard length, as is 26", 27", and 30". 25-1/4" also have a lower rise than 26" leaf springs.

I was under the impression that MacGregor trailers from back-when used 26" springs with 4-1/4" or 4-1/2" rise, vs. the typical 25-1/4" spring stack with 3" rise. The lower rise would result in the fenders being closer to the tires, too.

Edit: Also, I think the 26S trailer had the axle under the springs, and 25-1/4" springs with 4 leaves (1750 lb rating) use thinner leaves at .323" thickness than the original leaves on that trailer, at .430" thickness, which would lower the trailer and fenders another almost 1/2". The spring rate on the new springs is also lower, so just the dead weight of the boat and trailer would flex the springs more than the OEM springs, also bringing the fenders closer.

Something to look into, at least.
