We are in love with our new to us Mac! :-)

Hi everyone!

It's been awhile, I know....I've been lurking, but it's been super hectic since getting back to Toronto! I finally logged in and noticed I had PMs sitting in my inbox from awhile ago, which I will get to in a bit! Sorry!!!!

Anyhoo....

....WE LOVE OUR MAC! A couple of days after we returned, we went to see it. I was literally jumping up and down like a kid....!!
A few days later, we had our sea trial....it was amazing. However when we tried to plane, the motor started cutting out. The spark plugs were replaced....and still the same thing. I thought we'd miss out on the 'May 2-4' long weekend....I was so bummed, as the papers couldn't be signed until this was fixed. However, Mike at North South Yachts went back on the boat and tested the gas line....which turned out to be the culprit....something with the spring! He called us in Friday morning for another test, and up it went! SUPER!!!! And then there was me with more jumping up and down. Papers signed, and lots of smiling aaaaaand....I have my :macx: :) :D :) :D 8)

On Saturday my parents came to see it, and we brought a bottle of champagne. Out to the bow I go, and for some reason it went off right away....BANG! I screamed, fell back and managed to pour it all over myself AND the boat! Everyone was in stitches as I nearly went into the drink! My dad came along for the ride from Port Credit to Toronto Island Marina....we picked up my mum once she dropped off the car. Got to our amazing slip, with fabulous neighbours who were all waiting to see us come in (had met them a couple of days back, awesome people....all with positive thoughts on the Mac even with their fancy massive sailboats).

The next day Bryan and I go up and start cleaning. And cleaning. And more cleaning! This continued into Monday, and then we went and picked up friends on the mainland and proceeded out to Ashbridges Bay for the Victoria Day fireworks. It got a bit rough out there, but I find it handled the waves quite well! Everyone loves the boat....I have a feeling I will have many more friends this summer....ha ha!

Anyhoo, I won't bore you with any more writing. On with the pics:-)

And now....time to clean it up, fix it up, and mod it up. Hooray!
:D

Great, happy Sailing and when you come down to Florida, be sure to hook up with the WCTSS for trips to Cayo Costa and the upper Keys.

Awesome. Glad you could complete the deal and be out on the water. Maybe we can meet on the lake this summer. :)

Thanks everyone:-)

Laika, thanks for the beautiful words! We are so happy to start this new adventure!

Mac26paul, no kidding! Every day seems like new boat day....we're enjoying every second of it! Thanks:-)

Dive4it, yessir! :-)

Dlandersson, hull ya! Ha ha!

DaveB, that would be awesome! We will for sure check that out when we get down there....checked out the site and looks like a blast!

Mastreb, thanks....we'll for sure post up our mods. We jump right into projects....love it! :-)

Andarlite....how are you doing? Thanks, I hope we can meet up too! Did you look at any more 26Xs? Are you going to keep the 19? If you ever venture out to the Toronto Islands, let me know! Where are you keeping your boat again?

robbarnes1965, I will for sure let you guys know! Not sure if we will make it that far this year, but you never know! We want to check out the Thousands Islands area too! We'll see:-) Would love to meet up with y'all!

Well today consisted of more cleaning. I must have 100000 questions, but, I must sleep. IT's been a loooong day! I have to get up early and get back over there to finish everything.

On Monday we are taking it over to Genco to get some things done....the bimini/dodger, stern seats (went on another sailboat and fell in love with them!), and the entire interior is going to be re-upholstered! I picked a black vinyl for the births, and a kind of shimmery pewter leather for the rest of the seating. I hope it looks as fabulous as I hope.

We also got custom cockpit cushions from bottomsiders, which were worth every cent to us. They look great....love their work.

After that, we're (well, the hubby, to my instructions, LOL!) putting in a stereo system, fresh water system, led lighting....too much to name. Oh ya, and some new flooring inside and deck tiles for the outside!

We've also decided that a drain in the bathroom is very important to us. Something REALLY gross happened when we took friends out. For some reason, the handle for the toilet seemed stuck. I pulled on it a bit hard and the entire cover came off....and shot water all over me. I thought it was fresh water. We found out the next day that is was NOT. The water that pooled in the head turned yellow in the heat of being closed up for a day, and the smell of urine was unbelievable in the cabin. There was literally a puddle in the washroom. I am a complete germaphobe....I've got a bit of OCD so natually I freaked out a bit. Poor Bryan was in there with a styrofoam cup, scooping it up, and I was up in the cockpit gagging, ha ha! Lets just say, we disinfected that bathroom so much, that you could eat off the floor:P Yup, I want to be able to spray that down in the future. Learned that real fast;-)

Will keep everyone updated on the mods. I have a picture of one of the cushions in the link above. I will take better ones with them in the boat:-)
The boat came with only two cushions (no stern one) but they seem to be barely used, if used at all! If anyone wants them, let me know. I was surprised of their condition. Also, I have the original fabric for all the interior cushions. I washed them all quite well....if anyone is interested:-)

Cheers!

LOL, sound like SH**ty experience.

Rather than installing a drain, get a composting head. I met a Toronto couple (Greg and Linda Henley aboard their X - "Flirt") in the Florida Keys this March that lives aboard their Mac. They have been doing it for a long time(years) and we were more than a little shocked at how clean, neat and odor free the boat was. They had a lot of praise for the head and said they go for at least 3 weeks without having to empty it. When they do it is apparently not worse than yard compost for smell. It sounds like you two will spend a lot of time aboard so I think it's your answer.

Linda is a sailmaker and has made a lot of cool cabin organizers out of sailcloth for their boat. If you want their info, just pm me. You will probably run into them in Florida. Encouraging to know also, they have made about 15 trips to the Bahamas and Abacos with the Mac.

No blog or website actually. I even asked them about this board and they are not members. Just floating along in their own little world :)

If you have the original covers for the table cushions, back rest and side seat I would be interested in buying them. My boat is a MacX 1997.
I don't need the foam, just covers.
Actually i would be interested in all the interior fabric.
