Jib block shackle binding?

Hello,
What do people do with their jib block after insalling a CDI ll furler?
The pully runs free but the block itself seems to be pinched against the mast buy the upper shrouds. No matter what I do it doesn't swivel. The set up is exactly like the picture in the manual, except with the furler. Difficult to see what's happening 25' up.
I'd like to keep the jib block for possible spinnaker, etc.
Thanks,
Wally

Don't have a M and have a hard time picturing your set-up. If the the swivel is not rotating it's due to compression from the stays and the furler. Could this problem be addressed with a longer bolt and spacers between the furler attachment/swivel/stays? It seems like the friction between the furler and swivel isn't good for furling operation either.

Mine is still up to hoist the jib sock. Every now and again it has trouble and binds but its been good for the last month.

Picture of my set up.

Picture from the manual.
Thanks for the replies, think I figured it out, maybe.
My original upper shrouds didn't have the extra "tang", I order new one because they were binding with the lower adjusters when raising the mast and getting nicked up pretty bad.
The new shrouds came with an extra "tang" you see in the picture. I think the tangs are pinching the block against the mast when raised. The picture from the MacGregor manual shows a longer tang between the shackle and the block which I think lets the block hang free. I will probably need to replace the shackle with a longer one to fix the problem.
For now I have just remove the jib block and halyard.
Thanks,
Wally

I replace the standard D shackle that comes with the boat(s) from MacGregor with a Long D shackle, on boats that I sell.
This puts the jib halyard block a little bit lower.
When raising the mast, when it is about half-way up, I pull the jib halyard up and down to make sure it is not caught under the upper shrouds.

That was going to be my suggestion. Glad to hear it actually works.

Oh, and I use my jib halyard for raising the mast, and nothing else. It's perfect for that, as it's right under the headstay and stays that way the whole trip up. I crank down on the gin pole rigging to make the headstay pin, then release it and tie the halyard off to the mast. It sits there doing nothing until I need it to lower the mast.
