This is not really a boat for sale it is a just some company pasting there website in to the sales section. I wanted to bring it to your attention. I would suggest it gets deleted.

Hi, Kevin -

I can understand your concern, and I thank you for helping us to keep our forum clear of 'spam'. However, on this one, I have to explain a bit....

Bill at BOATS 4 SAIL is more than 'just some company' - Bill has been a strong supporter of this website for quite some time (I think, in actuality, since it began!) and has been a good and faithful member and forum contributor over the years. Bill has a great reputation for offering quality sales, service and support for Mac boats, and he regularly chips in here on the forum to help a member with their boat - often at his own expense, and even if he didn't sell it to them. He paid for that ad space, so he's entitled to post the sort of sale he requires, within reason, and I think this is within reason. I agree with you... it's not for a *specific* boat for sale... but then Bill always has great boats for sale, so I'm sure if anyone contacted him he'd find them a nice deal. Also, as a financial supporter of the website we do allow him some extra privileges, like occasionally posting a thread about his business... here's an example of that, and you can see some of the comments from his customers: http://www.macgregorsailors.com/forum/v ... 41#p205841

Thanks, again, for helping to keep the forum clean, but on this one I think it's on the up-and-up.

Regards,
Kevin McLemore
Forum Moderator

Fair enough, its your forum.

I am however confused as to what this business is about. I see this ad in the classified section, this implies they sell used boats. However there website has no mention of any used boats for sale at all. There is a number of pages copied form the MacGregor website, and a useful commentary on mods (interesting to note he will install a convince package, that MacGregor themselves would do well to adopt) , and other parts that is offered by this business; oddly a bunch of links to *drinking water fountains* (???)

I guess I am confused because if it were my business I would use the ads at the top, sides, or between text to advertise. I would not put advertisement for my company, in a used boat section; were people are looking for and expecting to find other people selling used boats. It is not my business though is it.

Don't misunderstand me, I hold no ill will toward this group, I don't know anything about them. Just trying to keep things right , and clean.

Kevin Nemrava.

PS- we might do well to delete this thread as well, as it serves no purpose.

Kevin, Bill is an old guy... he knows a heck of a lot about Mac boats, but I doubt he's a web expert, so I'd cut him some slack on his site.

Having said that, he does indeed advertise here, and occasionally you'll see his banner ads rotating through at the top of this page. Top of page advertising is the only formal advertising we allow on the forum - we don't allow inserts ('between text') or side-of-page ads, as we feel that makes for a cluttered forum display.

Seriously Kevin, you need to find yourself a hobby.

I am not sure why you are so confused. Bill is an authorised MacGregor dealer who is advertising his product. Why would you think that the classifieds are just for 2nd hand boats? His ad is in the 2003 to present section, which his boats fit into.

Maybe he also sells water fountains so he also has links on his website advertising this.

I hope this has cleared up SOME of your confusion.

Looked fine to me. If anything, I find this forum under-advertised for the number of members and how useful it is.

Concurr-e-vous!

Hey West Coast Mac, we do need constructive observant input from time to time. Personally, I'd rather keep the mod's on their toes with a little 'heads up' every now and then!
Otherwise - evry body's sleeepin! (SOME of the time) :o

The first word in the title of both of Bill's ads on the classifieds is "New".
You may have somehow??? inferred that Bill was listing used boats but nowhere in the ads or the website does he imply he's selling used boats. As for the "confusion" regarding what the business is about, "www.boatsforsail.info" is a pretty good hint.

When I get like this I sometimes go to Youtube and search "Caribbean sailing" or "Ocean crossing" it helps chill me out.

Gents, let's be nice, shall we?

Kevin was trying to raise the Mod's awareness and that's a GOOD thing. He's just fairly new here - he only joined in July 2011- so he couldn't know Bill's history with our forum, and I can see why that raised his eyebrow. Frankly, I appreciate anyone who helps us to keep order in this place!

All well intended. Add a header line to the classified home page "New and Used". No more confusion.

LOL

Love the tag in your location, Dive.

Bill sold me my Mac as well, he is an older guy, almost 2x my age.... he would not mind me saying that either.

Just watch out for the rubber chicken he keeps in his barn!

LOL

One of the nicest guys I ever met.
