That is good news and bad news. The bad news is my Clipper Marine 30 boat is too large for the slip.

So my Mac 25 looks like it will be the largest dingy ever slipped at my lake, so I can get to the mooring ball for my Clipper Marine 30. lol

I may moor the big boat, or use it as a trailer sailor, and possibly take turns with the Mac 25 and the Arriva 19 speed boat in the slip.

So for all you guys that hoped I would sell the Mac 25 and fade away, and leave you alone, sorry, looks like you are stuck with me till I get a bigger slip.

Looks like she gets a new coat of bottom paint in the spring if she is going into the water for the whole season.

What's TOO big about the 30 for the slip?
The 2 boats have about the same beam.

My boat hangs out of the slip as it's longer than the slip.

And don't sell the Mac any time soon. Sail the 30 and see how you like it. The Mac25 is a nice sailing boat. You may prefer it.

The 30 is just a bit too big, the **** **** doesn't quite fit......

In high winds, the slipped boats have a max wind load they want, and 26' boats is all the wind load the docks are rated at. Even at the current standard, each year some boats manage to get damaged in storms. That is their spiel, and I cannot really argue with the rules they set down. The newest set of docks, will go to 32' but they are showing full for next year, or at least my name is not on that list. The waiting list is about five years for that dock.

I pointed out the water line length of my boat was just 25'. lol

I am not a big fan of that rusted 650 pound pivoting mass under my boat. I know it can need maintenance, and if something goes wrong, people can get hurt, or at best, it falls off to the bottom of the lake, and then my boat is an instant fishing boat with a kicker motor. If I stay with Mac's, I am attracted to water ballast. Hunter has given up on water ballast on some of their boats. Interesting.

In reading, I am digging the shoal keel on my CM, and I would be really surprised if I walk away from that after I get it. What I read, the shoal keel is really nice for sailing. we will see.

I've never sailed on a 25, but they blow my M away on the lake under sail. My guess is the 25 will sail much better than the CM30.
Getting that centerboard in order seems like a common task that others have done without too much trouble.
Like I said, keep them both just in case. Decide after a season.

I hear the CM30 has a serious hasp problem. Just sayin.

My next change up for the cabin door is 100% hidden locking system. It will be a complete mystery just how to open the the passageway to the casual observer. No keys.

Good advice keeping the Mac 25 for several reasons. I know my wife loves the idea of four boats! lol

You are correct in the fact the Mac 25 is pretty quick, from my few weeks on the lake, it does seem so. The Mac 25 is rated a little faster than the CM30, but sailing is not just about speed. Sailing goes way beyond that single dimension, unless you are in a race, and speed is all that matters. Handling on each boat will be quite different, and the differences may be like flying a high wing and a low wing airplane. One will be more forgiving and relaxing and one will be more performance and exciting, would be my guess from the reading I am doing. The CM comes in two keel styles, fin and shoal. I am very pleased I found a shoal version keel for both on the water and on the trailer.

Wasn't it just a few months ago that there was a three year waiting list for the slip you got after only a few months? So that 5 year list for the new slips may also be significantly shorter. I had the very same experience at two Marinas here in Colorado, both had three year lists and offered me a slip within a few months. Times are, or have, changed, so I suggest you get on the new list ASAP. Good luck.
