Several boats were damaged, but no one was hurt.
I was standing in this very spot several days ago admiring this fine sailboat, wondering what kind it was. I love helm sailboats.

The story said they had just started the diesel engine and was warming it up. Walked up to purchased something at the marina and the boat caught fire. Diesel fuel is not easily flammable. This is the second fire at this lake this year. The first one killed someone.

I was one of the first on scene at a boat fire at a marina in Solomons Island MD a couple years ago. Black smoke was coming out of the engine compartment on a cabin cruiser. Amazing how long it takes to run down a fire extinguisher when you really need one. Also, it seems like forever before the fire department arrives, although they actually got there quite quickly. The fire was electrical in origin (owner had been doing engine work, and it looked like a tool carelessly left down in the engine compartment shorted out against the battery). Fiberglass on fire is an ugly sight, bubbling as it burns. I hope I never see it again.

Oh man!!!
Gary, it looks like it was a Hunter....30 I think.
Diesel doesn't burn well but there is plenty of stuff that can burn on a boat. Electrical, hot exhaust touching a wire, who knows? Sad. Hope he had good insurance.

When the boat burned, the mast fell and struck several boats.
Yesterday I see they cashed my deposit check for a slip.
It would seem the fire opened up a place for me and my boat.
I was 15 miles away when the fire started, I know what some of you guys are thinking! lol
Sad way to get a slip.
