who cares about your motor, how did you score a 26x for 5 grand?

Did you have to clean the bodies out of the back of it?

Based on @vkmaynard's comment, I'm wondering why Billy has a 3 blade prop, if the two 90s with 4 blad props can outrun him.

Does the 4 blade have any disadvantages, like at low speeds or while motor sailing?

BTW, I'm in the "load it 'till it barely floats" crowd, with 2 kids that want to tube and ski and bring lots of creature comforts.

The four blade prop is more efficient at lower Mac speeds because each blade does less work so there is less flow separation and cavitation. At higher non-Mac speeds like 40+ the three blade is more efficient because there is less blade to blade intererence.

Billy's boat really flys when he reduces the weigh. He was pushing over 35 knts.

Solas Amita 4

We were smartly advised by Billy to keep the diameter, which we did. I tried a smaller diameter prop with larger pitch and lost a lot of performance. Eventually we sent our prop to a shop in VA that removed about 1.5" of pitch for the final tune ($30 ish).

Renamed thread to make it more accurately fit the content. Old name was 'i need help with motor choice'.

Interesting! Any know of a four blade prop for the E-Trc 60. I'd sure try it based on the improvements reported by forum members on misc motors.

Mike, what pitch are you currently putting on the 60 HP? In switching from a 3 blade to a 4 blade, one generally goes down 1 pitch. I'm not sure a 4 blade below 13 pitch is available for the E-tec 60. Might be able to recup the blades to get a lower pitch. Would be an interesting experiment.

Something like a Solas standard prop 13.35x13 (2413-133-13) or Rubex prop (9413-133-13). Billy is correct approximately 1+ inch less pitch. I tried the 13.75x15 on the 90 and had 1" of pitch removed for the perfect tune on our boat/configuration. You probably have to repitch down to 11 as guess (can only make a +/-2" change).
