Can anybody recommend one? I'm in my 40's and hoping to find some moderately active folks. Thank you!

There are so many yacht clubs in this area it is hard to advise you. Are you looking for a brick and mortar club with organized races and a fine restaurant or just a social club based online? I spent last weekend as a guest at Marina del Rey's California Yacht Club. It is a very nice place with a huge clubhouse, great restaurant, bar, showers, sauna, a large dock area with a bathroom on the docks. They were off on a race to Catalina Island where they have a station and we used the empty slips. I have heard of "paper" clubs in the area which just meet up on the water or a ramp and enjoy each others company. If you are a veteran the VFW has a club on Balboa Pennesula. Let me know where you end up, I may be interested as well.
