I was reading another macgregor site and ran across this diy roller furler for hank on sails. Has anyone done one. I looked in the Mac Mods and didn't see any of the DIY variety. I'm considering making one and was wondering if anyone out there has any experiences to share in this area.

I've seen a DIY roller furler for use with hank-on sails before. I saw it installed on a Mac 25 that's for sale nearby.
The roller furler is made from PVC pipe (not sure on the diameter) and a wooden/homemade spool at the bottom. What the guy did was make cut-outs, like the holes in a flute, along the length of the PVC at the positions where the hanks fastened to the forestay with the sail raised. The hanks were fastened to the forestay through those cut-outs. When the PVC was rotated around the forestay by the spool, the PVC caught the hanks and rotated them, with the sail, around the forestay with the PVC. I imagine that the initial setup is a bit of a pain; but it's a lot cheaper that going out and buying the new kit and new roller furler.
