Lake Kerr VA/NC or Lake Gaston VA/NC

Ok currently Hurrican Earl is not subpose to hit Hampton Roads Area very hard but that may change. If it does I am going to Lake Kerr or Lake Gaston to ride out the hurrican and make something out of my Labor Day weekend. I have never been to either so which one is better. Looking at google map lake Kerr is bigger and has more wildlife area. However I dont know if it is to shallow in most spots to Sail? or is there any other pluses or minuns to picking Lake Kerr.

Go to Kerr lake. I bought my 26M from a guy who kept it on Kerr lake vice lake Gaston because of depth issues at Gaston.

The forecast for this weekend is phenomenal. I guess Earl knows how cool this years JMGT is gonna be

Kerr is much improved over Gaston. We were there last weekend.

The largest sail boat in Kerr is 46'. Except for Diamond shoals, I don't think you will have a depth problem.

Really nice CLEAN lake.

Hmmmm! We were planning on spending the weekend in the Chesapeake however this sounds interesting. A bit of drive from the DC area, but worth considering. I found the NC rec area for the lake - is that the only launching area? What else can you tell me about it? Thanks!
