Which bottom paint to use?

Hello,

So it's been a while. Moved from California to Nevada and haven't used my 97 :macx: in couple of years. Getting it ready to start using it again, but I've got a dilemma.

I used to keep it in a slip in the California Delta and used an Ablative Bottom paint (WM CPP). I now live on a patch of desert outside of Reno. This boat will never see a slip again, as long as I own it, I reckon. So I'd like to remove the bottom paint down to the epoxy barrier coat I put on and then repaint it with 'something'.

I definitely don't need any anti fouling capabilities. I'd like for the bottom to be nice and 'shiny', and preferably, black.

So Any of the anti fouling bottom paints are out. Was thinking of something like "VC Performance Epoxy with Teflon", but all I can find that in is white.

Is there just some sort of plain, hard finish paint I could use on the bottom?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Brent

Might not be the cheapest solution, but have you looked at Petitt's Vivid paints.....

Also if you are sailing Lake Mead they have zebra mussels and the paint might help with those,

If you are not going to leave the boat in the water any good quality paint will work. An epoxy paint would be the best and hardest then after that a good two part polyurethane enamel. I would stay away from a one part paint for the bottom.

Personally I have used the VC performance epoxy on two boats and think it is the best choice for a trailer boat. It is hard and the boat slides on the bunks easy. if it gets scratched it is easy to repair just the area where you can not tell it was repaired.
