I just sold my Mac26m to a Gent from Alabama. He drove all the way to Ohio to pick it up.The problem was we could not start the 2007 Suzuki dl50 Plenty sparks, oil was changed last September by Suzuki dealer and the motor started and ran great the few times I started it before winter set in.We put fresh fuel in and pulled the fuel lines and filters still no luck. When we put starter fluid in the inlet it started right up and ran till fluid ran out.The man who bought the boat from me got it home and has a manual and he seems to think its a fuel pump problem. Why would the motor be OK last year and its not been touched since and now it wont start,My question is ,have any of you Suzuki engined guys had a similar problem. The motor only has 35 hours on it.Any help or suggestions will be useful.

Albion - is this a EFI or carb engine??

If it is a carb I would guess that it is plugged up (needle valves) and needs some seafoam treatment. I doubt it is a fuel pump.

It's EFI. The starting fluid test clearly indicates a no fuel problem, but by no means indicates a fuel pump problem. I have a Suzi on my X, but am traveling and away from my manual and don't have a clue. I would suggest that you call the dealer that did the service on it and see if he has a suggestion.

My Merc BF50 (same power head as the Suzi IIRC) has both a mechanical pump and an electric pump for fuel

Check fuse for electric pump?

Is the fuel filter bowl full?

Yours seems fairly new, but our older Suzuki ('03DF50) had the fuel pump freeze up when we let it sit for a while. Dealer/mechanic said the ethanol in the fuel deteriorates the pumps very quickly if they aren't run often. He recommended running it at least once a month.
For ours when we first turn the key, there should be a 'whir' sound from the fuel pump. When we didn't hear that, we knew it had frozen up. When they took it out, it was clearly in bad shape.

So did he still take the boat back to 'bama?

BTW... it's probably a DF50 (not DL50). I have an '08 DF70. It seems like a low hours, young motor. Fuel pump fuse? Are you sure fuel is getting into it from the connectors? If I recall, the motor connector has a check valve.

Though I sold the Mac I still look for stuff with you guys. Well the gent who bought the boat fixed it. He took the ( I believe he said upper fuel pump )to a dealer and it was that, that had corroded. Anyway being the good guy I am, I sent him the money for part. Thanks for the help you have given me in the past, and a special thanks to Bill at Boats4sail.I bought a new Trophy 1802 w/a to replace the 26M.If I see any MACS on the water Iwill give them a wave.
