Happy summer! Found bleach & soap to bring the white out on my deck, and remove the mildew that seems to grow overnight. Any downsides? Also, it hasn't seemed to lick the black streaks that run down the side. Any recommendations for those?

Yes. The downside is you could ruin your favorite Philmont sweatshirt if as you clean off the bleach/soap mixture you splash some on your self.

I still wear it...just don't wear it out anyplace nice.

Used bleach & soap on my M this year; worked great! But week later had mildew again on all surfaces parallel to the ground, none on the side of the boat – strange. Don’t know what to do about it. I use hand – held brush on non-skid surfaces , works great.

We used a weak solution of oxalic acid (2 spoons of powder to one bucket). It was the only thing that removed the brown stains around the water mark.

we found a pressure washer, rotary brush head, and some "pressure washer cleaner" - that we got at Lowes - was very effective....

hosed down a section... sprayed a light coat of soap on it... waited a minute or three - and then used the rotary hose to clean off. Worked for us. Got all the dirt off... and grime underneath.

Works for me, if there's a really bad stain I just pour 100% bleach on it (small amount) brush it in and let it set for 1 minute then hit it with the power washer (rinse thoroughly). VOILA !! Bright white deck ! I've tried many of those so-called deck cleaners available on the market, they're expensive and DO NOT WORK ! Cheap bottle of bleach does the best job. Same thing around the house I'll use Bleach or Ammonia (NEVER use together TOXIC FUMES) for many cleaning needs, sure beats all that other stuff and disinfects too. Lysol I use alot of also. It's like this, I'm on a budget so either it's Mac boat payments OR Maid Service... which one would you pick under the same circumstances.

Ditto. If you're gonna add soap, make sure it has no ammonia.

If you keep a nice layer of wax on the boat, the stains will come off easily. Given what bleach does to clothing and other objects, I would think that it would not have a long term good effect if it can penetrate into the fiberglass.

Starbrite has worked really well for the non-skid decks where you don't want to wax.

I buy "The Works" toilet bowl cleaner at the dollar store. Takes out all the stains. Make sure to wear gloves.

I am very frugal when it comes to buying products like this and to go to West Marine it adds to the cost alot. But I must say the (Marine Spray Nine) is a great product. I had a spray bottle and tested an area a couple years ago. This season after never washing the boat and I leave it out in the weather during the winter , all the white was mildew turning grey and overall just awful.

I also bought a pump strayer thinking it would save some extra muscle while I tried to bring back the white on the boat. Man that spray nine marine grade is worth every penny. I bought a gallon and I have at least 3 quarts left so a few more seasons of product left for cleaning. Read up on it online, it cleans and they say if you use it a few times builds up a barrier.
