Where can I buy a speader for teh MAC 26X?
Can you use a "Thru the hull" depth finder in teh MAC? Where do you put it to avoid the balast tank?

Spreader... from Blue Water Yachts in Seattle. They are a sponsor (see banner above).

Through hull? Why? Mount it in silicone inside and avoid the hole. Cut out the bottom of a plastic bowl and place where you will "mount" it, fill with clear silicone caulk, stick transducer into the caulk and let it dry.

I just installed a Hawkeye D10D digital depth gauge on my X.
Silicone is specifically forbidden in the manual to glue the transducer in the manual. Even tiny air bubbles cause it to not work.
I tried silicone though and it would work while the silicone was wet, but after the caulk set it stopped working. I think silicone shrinks and you get air under the goo.
For the last three weeks it's been stuck in place with a chunk of wax from a toilet bowl wax ring, while I decide if that's where I want it. :)
It's under that little compartment access panel on the port aft , outboard of the ballast tank. The gauge is in the pedestal.
Seems to work great so far. Non fast set epoxy is supposed to be used, after I'm happy with the location I expect I'll do that.

Message to Heath (or the Moderators if they can help),

Is there any way to add a drop down menu or some way to see links to all the sponsors of this fantastic website? You never know which sponsor will be at the top of the page as it rotates every time you refresh the screen. Maybe a "Sponsors" drop down right next to "Resources".

Seems like it would be easy enough for someone with ADMIN rights to do and it would benefit the users and probably make the sponsors happy as well.

Just a thought.

Cheers,
Jim

I just replaced both spreaders on my V25. I got some 1" aluminum tubing from the local Ace Hardware. It was just a matter of cutting to length and drilling for the mounting bolt. The end fitting is secured with a 3/16" aluminum rivet, also from Ace. I reused the plastic ends that hold the upper shroud, but I would replace them with the metal ends that Bywater sells if anything ever happens to them.

I have my trasducer installed from previous owner, under the ice container for the ice chest under the setee next to the head.
It have a 4 in pvc pipe cutted just 6 in., and glued to the floor cutted in an angle to fit the floor, and using 3M 5200 permanent white glue to fix it.
Than, inside the tube it have toilet installation wax, the trasducer is into de wax pressed to the bottom, than part of the pipe is filled with clear mineral oil to cover the top of the trasducer, and finally a 4 in. pvc cap to cover everyting, with a little cut to get the trasducer cable out of the pipe. Dont glue the cap.

I used plumbers putty to push the transducer into. It has worked for 10 years now. I put the transducer below one of the wood storage lids in the cabin area under the cockpit. I put the screen on a swing out arm on the left inside as you enter the cabin on my X.
