I for one, never imagined that I might covet one of these.
Certainly the 8' - 6" draft would demand a significant change in address.

I see Roger's boat all the time when I visit Newport, It's a beauty, and at 250K a surprisingly good buy.
It seems he has been selling off a lot of stuff lately, lets hope he is building his replacement boat and not planning to retire.
Selling 500 boats a year in today's economy and with California's restrictions I worry about the value of his company if he tried to sell it.
I think Roger's designs have been brilliant in their simplicity with a lot of bang for the buck, as "rough" as the may seem they preform very well for their entry level price. He has truly made sailing more affordable, and created a lot of boating enthusiasts.
Roger's shoes would be hard to fill so I hope to see a new Mac boat at his dock the next time I'm in Newport.

From the web ad:
The boat is owned by MacGregor Yacht Corporation, and has served as Roger MacGregor's personal boat. We are building a new one to replace it.

I already sold Roger's 70. It will go up north in June. The new one is under construction. Some small parts have been built. Roger spends very long hours designing the changes to the 70. Full time on the 70. It is as much change as from the classic to the M. We will take out weight. At the time of design on the 65/70 it was called out as being too light when it was just too fast. Now, today, when we race, most of our competition is 10,000 lbs lighter than Anthem and none had aluminum masts. The new carbon masts will cost more than than the original boat. Bulb keel, port and stbd water tanks with 200 hp engine driven pump for fast tacking. Very deep draft. We will get some first to finish just like years ago when the 65 first came out. Looks like Roger will be sailing the M as his personal boat for a little while. That can be good. Maybe some new ideas. I'm dreaming of solar cell wing with mast raiser, curved foils to lift out of water while planning. Just can't stop thinking of the Americas Cup tri. What a boat. Right after she got underway from 600 yards back race one, pointing high, lifted up on one hull. That stuff will never be for us. But something will, something we don't even know about yet. None of us, not even Roger.
Hello, anyone got an idea, better anything, something for 10 years out
