I do not know what it is like in other states but in NSW the rego label (for boats) is made of some sort of plastic covered paper. How the hull do I get the old label of the fibre-glass hull without damaging the yacht?
Why can't waterways supply a vinyl type label like the RTA provide for cars?
Some of these state government bodies need a rocket.

Glen

Re: Removal of the old registration sticker
for a Mac (gelcoat) and not awlgrip, use heat (hair dryer) and peel back the edge, should come off. Some 'goof off', wd40, etc can be used on the back once the sticker starts to peel. JUST use enough heat on the sticker to start to peel the edge. use the lowest heat that is effective. I wouldn't use a heat gun unless you are experienced with it. You can do a lot of harm quickly with one. Try a hair dryer first

What Paul said.
As noted, a hair dryer will probably work fine... only use a heat gun if you're really stuck, and then with *great* care.
And if you absolutely *have* to use a scraper, use plastic (good) or wood (better), not metal... you'll avoid gouging the gel.
As far as solvents, if WD40, Goof-Off and mineral spirits (paint thinner) don't work, you can also use acetone if you have *not* painted your hull (i.e. you've got plain gel coat).

Yeah, me too, but some folks are more particular about how their boats look. I am not one of them.Paul S wrote:Thats what I do. I don't remove them unless it gets unsightlydelevi wrote:I just put the sticker over the old one. Do the same fo the autos. Call me lazy I guess.
