would anybody be interested in purchasing a larger version of the

or

if Mac began to develop say a 30 or 35 footer? I think if the company kept the cost down and Roger did his majic I'd be first in line. We use or

in the Puget Sound it's great but I'd take more room in a hartbeat.

If the price were right, I'd definitely consider a "MacGregor 33X" (even though it wouldn't really be a trailerable boat anymore).

Mac did make a 60 or 70 footer, but they discontinued it for some reason. I would love a larger (cheaper) option.
Mac is in the business to make $ from a target market, so I can't believe that if Mac thought he could make $ with a Larger cheaper boat, that he wouldn't go for it.
After thinking about it, I think there must be some marketing study that shows the number of people who could affort a 30-35ft boat slip also can aford a more costly boat?
I would want one, but hey, I still believe in hard work........

Lets see, do you mean to tell me, no -one else has not taken this contemplation....
Pretty much take a regualr 26X, and where the existing cockpit is, enclose a salon, floored at the level of the level of the Aft berth, and then followed with an aft berth open cockpit (aproximately 7'9" in length, hmmm where did I get that number) with suitable stringer reinfocement, transom reinfocement, mast is stepped back to 14 inches forward of the salon/galley line, total dry weight 2940 lbs empty, (sail and motor at 4700 gross) did I mention the mast is 5 ft. taller, 4"OD, and there is a 130 hp motor, of course roller furled, with baby forestay for that storm jib, wonder of wonders still only 7'11" wide, and dual swing centerboards..(Since I want this quick, no time to redesign the centerboard properly at 7 ft 4"), shower, and a true 25 kts max speed, radar arch..... lets see.... time to get out that recip saw and a couple of gallons of fiberglas resin...... and find a wounded 26 X someplace to sacrifice her stern................... stop this dreaming now.... and yes it would still be street legal, look fast and be faster..
arent fantasys nice....
quick hide the recip saw.....

However, Roger would only warranty the vessel with a 90 hp outboard.
Yet some dealers would find a loophole that would allow them to put on a 150hp and still be under warranty.
And, Bill @ boats for sail would insist that he would not (under any circumstances) put an outboard higher than what Roger had rated the max to be.
It would be advertised to go 20 knots under power, but once loaded, would only go 15-16 with the 90hp.
Same issues, different time...

This I like, you buy the resin and I'll find and buy a damaged 26. We would have to find somebody to donate time to the interior.

See, a little dream can go a long way. By the way I've kept the X stock as far as interior. I'm thinking on having the seats and berths recoverd, but can't think what would go good with the black and white. Suggestions anybody?

If you are going to make it a 33 footer then keep the cockpit where it is and make an aft cabin behind the present cockpit.
Actually, I think a 30 footer pretty much like the present boat only with a shower and room somewhere for a small generator would be great in my opinion. Add two feet to the cockpit and the rest to the cabin.
KEEP THE LOW DRAFT Character of the boat.
And yes I'd buy it in a heartbeat if it retailed for no more than double of the present boat.

Marina Keys Lake Tahoe salvaged an X from under a dock. I saw it
there last month when I was storing my X for the week. There was a
new M at Zephyr Cove with the mast down in the mooring field. I dont use my bouy there for more than a day as I lost 2 masts on the X and one one my lido. Our rigging does not like wiggle jiggle M or X.

Tampa,
I guess I still like the aft cockpit over the center cockpit idea. easier boarding I feel....and allows for a slightly larger cabin layout
but the larger boat would leave room for:
a combination aux 3-5 hp powerhead, that can drive a watermaker or generator/ alternator, or pressure washer or shopvac, or drop on drive, or rescue pump, max weight 85 lbs, mounted on the transom, the killer weight wise is that damn rescue pump, cant find one under 30 lbs, but that would about round out the creature features I plan on the next boat, or shrinking to fit on this one. If you could keep it under 3 cubic feet that would be even better.
does anyone else feel a combo unit the size of 2 coleman powermate 1800s would have a market??
