Re: Paynesville at Easter
We're probably a 50/50 at this point.
Was intending to sail our skiff at Lake Bullen Merri in Victoria, however I managed to snap the carbon fibre mast last saturday whilst engaging in a bit of a capsize
. The mast is covered by insurance, but you know the fun of getting an assessor etc to look at these things, and for the insurance company to cough up
. From then it will be a minimum of two weeks to manufacture and probably a good weeks worth of work after 'work' to put all the bits onto the new mast.
Making it unlikely that I'll get the skiff up and running before Easter, back up plan for Easter will always be to take the Mac down to the Lakes and kick back for a bit
. I'll update my status as we get closer to Easter.

Re: Paynesville at Easter
If we get to go sailing over Easter it will have to be close to home, the following weekend we fly out to Hong Kong and Macau, we would need to leave home a day or so earlier and get home a day or so later to get down to GL, our customers will be annoyed enough.

Re: Paynesville at Easter
Hi Mistral.
Will you be there only at the weekend or a few days before. Would like to catchup and and share experiences.
I normally leave just before the Easter holiday gets underway so we can have a quiet return up to NSW. We normally rent a place with a Jetty and day sail so it is a biot cheaper that way too.
Cheers
David

Hi David,
Depending on the work schedule we love to go to the lakes on the Thursday, otherwise it will be Friday till the Tuesday.
Would be great to catch up. Where are you staying?

The plan is still to arrive early on Friday morning till Monday. Let's get a Mac group together.
John, where is your boat stored? We might look at the option as well.

Dear Dirk,
We are staying at the Fisher house in Wellington St on the canal quite near to Captain's Cove. We are arriving tomorrow Tuesday and at present leave on Thursday as you guys arrive. Ill see how things go and whether we can add a couple of days on the boat. It will depend on the Admiral of course! Weather is looking great at the moment.
Regards
David

Re: Paynesville at Easter
Great weekend and some great sailing. Also good to catch up with several members of the Association. The topic of discussion was to organise some social sailing weekends at the Lakes during the winter. Several have left the boat at the Lakes now to make it easier to get down there.

Re: Paynesville at Easter
Sorry that I could not extend to the Easter Weekend. My trip down started in fog and an altercation with a large Roo fortunately at only 30kph. Wiped my fog light out though.
Had a great few days at the GL and got to know my boat a little better. When I was setting up a
arrived and guess what? There were two WindSongs at the ramp. Swede also turned up and we had a good chat and the next day went to have a look at Bird of Passage and the mods he has done. Very interesting and helpful. Got a few good ideas that I will explore.
The winds were a bit light on but it seems that Lake King can always serve up a few strong surprises! For me at least, they nearly always come downwind when I am trying to relax. Had a really special sunset sail with the Admiral and my first mate on board. Had dolphins and a young one around the boat near Carstairs Bank.
Had some drama on my way home. See my other post Australian Trailer tyres.
Hope those that met over Easter had a great time.
Cheers

Re: Paynesville at Easter
My apologies for not making it to the Lakes at Easter. We went to Lake Bullen Merri and participated in an 'Off the Beach' regatta. It had seventy boats on a 2 x 3 km lake. Really interesting sailing and we managed to bring a trophy home.
Managed to have a really large hangover as well.
Well, there's always the possibility of next year?

Re: Paynesville at Easter
Hi Brian,
Although we didn't sail together, we still had our social get together with a few of the Mac's, although there were a lot of other Mac's on the water.
As far as the proposed meetings, we are out for the following
Anzac weekend - Queensland
Queens B'day weekend - King Island
Sept - Europe
November - Europe
Left the boat in Paynesville, so still hope to go other weekends.
