What it is really good for provided my admiral is not on board.

That was my X-Mas present from God on X-mas eve. I listened to X-Mas music and I didnt swear. Ther might be something to it.

Should rename my

to Cheap Troller

Well Highlander here are two pictures I already have ready to go on the Clutches. It was a Kelly Hanson kit I think If I remember right along with the sheets. The installation is my own design though and I was able to use exsisting holes except 2.

And that flat thingy is an 85w soloar panel to who ever asked.

Who makes an 85W panel *that* small? That looks more like the size of a 40W one?

Not where I bought it but this is the one I got.

Its 80W not 85W as stated earlier.

Nice catch, but I'm too old to be out in that kind of weather unless I'm shoveling snow, which has been a lot lately

.
How do you like the panel up there? I want to mount another panel (80watt also) and have looked at that area, but my lines aren't led aft and I don't have lazy jacks and I'm up in that area some, but it might work.

Here is an 80 watt............

................... that is 39 inches long and is $227 and is the one I'm going to buy. I bought one of their 40 watt ones ..................

..................from them and have been happy with it. I'm also thinking of putting the new 80 watt where the 40 is now and put the 40 over the generator.
c ya and have fun fishing,

Well I dont know how small your hatch cover is but that is the one on my 26X what do you need. Do I have to take a picture of a tape measure on the darn thing? or what.

Sorry a new post in the process of responding to OPI One dude. Yes I do like it on the hatch because I go fishing in fact my 26X is primarily a fishing boat. If I spend the night in it, it is because of an overnight fishing trip. I love sailing for trolling purposes so having a solar panel in the back on anything that is in my way of fishing is not an option. Hence is why there is no back seat anymore. The only down side is figuring out how I am going buy or make a dodger for the boat and still have the solar panel work.

How do you keep from breaking it by stepping on it while on deck.?

I have the same thought as Kev. My

hatch cover is 41" long, that panel would sit 10" over. I'd have to fab a hatch stop, else I'd surely crunch the panel on the mast!

I'd say all lines led aft for starters. Lazy jacks & roller furler as well. Otherwise...ninja-like reflexes!

I get around the Solar Panel buy stepping on the sides for the few times I have to go up there like:
1. Take off/on sail covers.
2. Use the spinniker.
3. Use the anchor not a lot because I usally use a drift anchor espesially if I am solo while fishing if I am not trolling.
4. Moore/unmoore boat to slip.
5. Sometimes the feed line on Geneoa balls up on furling roll in one spot and have to go forward and fix that.
On the starboard side I have the flat Aluminimum that the clutches are mounted on to step on to avoid the winch. The port side is a little tricker and If the wallas Heater/Stove has been used then the pop-up chimney is very hot there too so you have to be extra carefull. Other then that all lines lead aft so I set and adjust sails from the cockpit and I did make my own lazy jack system too.
Now far as what solar panel I got it has been a long while since I bought it for somewhere in the amount of $400.00

no sale on them at that time and all I can tell you is the box said 80W eliminator solar panel and I have had to replace the controller since I bought it

. Now I suppose I could unintall it to look at the model number but I am not going to go through all that to settle an argument. If I find time, money, and a good idea to build a dodger I will get the model number then.

ROAD-
I didn't see the curiousity on your solar panel as an argument. As I evaluate different solar mods for my use, I look closely at the details, like where different size panels fit and issues with locations. If I wanted to put a large panel on my hatch, it would affect certain on deck activities. For set up / take down & transport, any panel would need to be easily removable.
Back to the original thread topic...Nice catch! If you keep that up, you are definately going to need a bigger cooler!
