Here's a thread that talks about this incident. The Mac in background belongs to a board member.
aya16 wrote:wow small world Look closer thats my whaler with Karen in blue holding it at the dock, next to the mac. What happened to the guy launching, He just bought that used whaler never launched a boat before and backing it in he hit the gas instead of the brake, the truck floated some to the side and once sunk proceeded into the bottom of the ramp where it ends. The truck was completely submerged going the wrong way, it took the whaler strapped to the trailer down with it. The owner dived down and attached the tow truck cable to the whaler trailer, and was pulled out backwards. You can see the cable attached to the tow truck.

Worse part of it all for the guy that did this, was the fact the truck was borrowed from a friend, it wasnt his.....

Nothing. Basically this is a techinque used in warmer waters, you simply drive straight in until the boat floats free and pull a U-Turn and drive straight out. Of course this only works on wide ramps and you have to make sure your windows are all the way up or you may get wet!

How did the truck get nose-in ? The explanation says he gassed it instead of braking, ? so he was just approaching the ramp before he turned around, .... ?? This is funny but doesn't make any sense to me.

He was backing down the ramp and gassed it. Both the boat and pickup ended up in the water and since the boat and trailer were floating and the pickup was sinking, the rig pivoted around. The tow truck hooked onto the boat trailer to pull them both out, thus straightening things out, but backwards. At least that's how I understand it.

They went to the wrong boat ramp, they needed the one with the water on the other end.

Must be in Australia. After all the water in the crapper swirls the wrong way down there.

Hey Aussie Groupsters, is the water on your boat ramps down there on that end?

Crikey!!!
