With an X layout!

It is an intentional clone of the Mac 26X. Phil King is a Macgregor dealer, Down Under, and long-time contributor to these discussions. Their new version of the 26X is for Ozzie distrubution only. They were apparently dismayed by the factory's switch to the M-hull, so they decided to knock-off the 26X.
There was a very short-term poster on the forum in Spring or Summer, Dave (Something). He was "talking" about buying a 26X, but like a tire-kicker ... he was always looking for the freebie. He requested bullsh*t quotations from a half-dozen boat builders, Australia to Russia, and posted their answers here.
Even though Mackman does not want to export to the USA, Dave badgered them into providing a quotation for shipment to Florida. A search probably could not turn up that quotation, because crazy-Dave deleted his postings in his final fit of rage, prior to departing from the board. (I'm betting that he still has no boat).

I wondered what happened to him. Went on a stink boat trip to Alaska July 1 and when I got back he was gone. Must have been an interesting two weeks.

Well well, isn't this exactly as it should be. Huzzah Huzzah. New production
prior to the end of 2004. The next step is new US production. To add to the rumored polish and south american production.
The Mac26x debate goes on. This debate is not for the faint at heart.

This is the boat that Roger should have made instead of the 26M.
Extra two feet allows a shower. The rear berth looks nice and useable. And is that an 80 horsepower motor I see on the back? That's three things that the X needed.
And he kept the good things the X has. The open layout, the 9 inch draft, the swing keel that won't break when it hits something, and the gelcoat easy to care for interior.
I in no way would think of going from the X to the M. The M has some things better (sail plan?) but more things worse, more draft and a mildew magnet interior.
I would buy this boat, how much and are they selling it here?

One thing I noticed they didn't carry over from the X very well is that the forward dinette seat is higher than the V-berth, rather than the same level as on the X. Otherwise I like it... enough to put a firmer 3-4" thick piece of foam under the V-berth mattress to bring it up to the dinette seat level.
The only problem with the extra length is that it's too long for some slips.
