Greetings

Have any X owners seen or incorporated the Walmart (Attwood) 12 gallon topside fuel tank? I saw one today and thought it might fit nicely in front of my steering bar (I have not modified back porch yet). I am not sure of the dimensions of that free space and my boat is on the mooring. Does anyone have that info available?

Thanks,
John

Here's a link to the tank (corrected)

That area measures 24" x 15".

I can't see the tank you're looking at, the link is closed at this time. On long trips, I have two 5 gallon portable tanks there for extra fuel.

K9kampers,

Thank you for the information, I have corrected the link. I am going to pick one of these up today and play with installation ideas.

Please make sure it is strapped down well in this location. If it gets dislodged and lands on the steering gear, at >70# it will likely damage or hang up the helm at the very least. Fuel tank tie-down straps would be in order.

This one at Amazon looks more like it would fit, but I don't have the measurements of the compartment.
26 x 19 x 12 inches @ $70.64

if someone was kind enough to mail you one the shipping would only be $17.64 which would be £10.70 at the current exchange rate. bringing the tank to a total cost of £41.21 the mailing rate is for a 2 lbs box length no larger than 24" and the W+H combined cannot exceed 36" and I checked the dimensions and the tank does not exceed that.

not that you were going to buy one but just to let you know it might be a cheeper option :).

you were right about being expensive I just checked out this place http://www.tcschandlery.co.uk/c/383/Fue ... ories.html

My wife is from Plymouth and when we go to visit family my bank account goes down FAST!

Greetings,

The tank fits like a glove, now I just need to create some method of securing it to the deck. Any ideas for an aftermarket tank tie down sytem?

John
