Towing with a GMC Acadia

I have a GMC Acadia, front wheel drive, rated for 4500 lbs. towing.

Does anyone here have an acadia you use it to pull your Macgregor?

I am concerned about pulling the boat out of a lake on an incline that is wet.

When it rains and the roads are slick, it is fairly easy to spin the front tires from a standstill.

Your thoughts or advice (or even experience) would be greatly appreciated!!

If given too much torque, it is easy to spin the front wheels on any FWD vehicle. You will develop a feel after a short time. I use a 2002 Envoy to pull my Mac, and I don't use 4WD to pull the boat up a ramp. Actually, I use A4WD when pulling up the ramp. I don't recollect the truck ever switching into 4WD while pulling up the ramp, so two wheels do the job fine.

If this has not been done, I recommend installing a transmission cooler. It is not expensive, but replacing a transmission is

Ive never had trouble pulling the Mac out, even with ballast, with my FWD Eurovan, even with a wet and slippery, slimy ramp. If you dont let the wheels start to slip (meaning add the power slowly and carefully) you wont have a problem.

If they do start to slip, stop and start from a dead stop again. Its that sliding vs static coefficient of friction thing.
