Jesse,
It was nice meeting you up there.
My ride over from Anacortes to Deer Harbor was "interesting". As you recall it was raining (as it did for most of the week). But in Anancortes it wasn't foggy.
Wasn't foggy until I got to the islands, that is. Then pea soup! Could see maybe 200 yards. Was navigating purely by GPS as I could not see the shore from the channel. I also couldn't see the ferries. I don't have radar but luckily the ferries do. They would sound their loud fog horn nearly a full minute before I could see them (scared the *&^% out of me!). In the fog you can't tell from what direction sounds come from, so my head would spinning like a swivel looking for them.
Ultimately ran out of the fog near the pole pass entrance to Deer Harbor.
We stayed on shore for the week (there were six of us). We still mangaed to have some nice sails and saw some sun breaks. Unfortunately did not get over to Sucia or Stuart Island like we planned. Oh well, there's always next year.

Very nice meeting you also. I thought about you the afternoon you headed for Deer harbor. Yes, wet was an understatement. We stayed the 3 evenings at Deer Harbor and headed over to Islander Lopez. I was disappointed there. Not a very clean marina or facilities. We ended up getting out of the water a day early due to the weather. Putting the boat to bed for the winter now, very sad. However I do has some minor projects on her for the winter.
Take care,
Jesse
