Thanks to everyone that replied to my previous post. Would someone that sails a 26 d or c please tell me how much horse power is reasonable to use. I live near Sacramento Ca. and would like to get to know any Mac locals.

I use the 8hp 2cy. johnson sailmaster. seems to be plenty of power. cruise at 6kts, has a tricle charger on the motor, and very easy to strart and to pull up when not in use. If you use 50 t0 1 oil mixture, you can barely see the smoke. very dependable. The boat can take up to 40hp, if I live in San Francisco, I might be temped to put a 25hp, with controls closer, and hydrolic lift on the motor. I understand the currents in the bay can pretty bad.
