He has indeed! An inspiring and (for the safety-margin-conscious) comforting opinion, IMHO.
Also a clear exposition of the classic saying - "It's not the sailboat, it's the sailor." I freely acknowledge that his are bigger than mine, and not "brass" but solid marine bronze. He's done
lots more with Murrelet than I plan to do with Bossa Nova.
Class 4 - "coastal waters up to 25 miles from harbors" - were Mike & Jeff Inmon farther than 25 nm off Costa Mesa when they shot that video? Prolly not ... you can get plenty of weather that close to shore. Class 4 waters would include Puget Sound, the Chesapeake Bay, the whole ICW, the Channel Islands, the Florida Keys, likely the Bahamas when you get right down to it. For a wee little boat like ours, that's a lot of "sea room". I could get along with having to trailer her down to Baja. (And you can go 65 mph to the Florida Keys via 1-95.)
If the day comes that Bossa Nova isn't enough "sea boat" for me, she will have helped me learn the skills to handle a larger, more sea-kindly boat in bigger, more challenging condition. The Mac 26x is plenty of boat for my near-future purposes and goals, even if I don't think she's enough boat to challenge the Roaring Forties.
