I have not had her in the water yet. Today I pulled my boat around the corner to step the mast without any power lines nearby. I could not figure out how to use the winch and did not want to screw anything up.

Is there a video or something that shows how to use a winch to step a mast? I know I'm almost right, but I'm pretty sure that I will break something or at least part a line and take the resulting injury unless I get some advise.

I live in the Southbay area, about 20 minutes from Kings Harbor or Marina Del Rey. If no video tutors are available are there any local MacGregor sailors care to help me figure out what I should be doing?

Also, if you've seen the mac26 promotional video you can get a more modern method of raising the mast. bwyachts has a mast raising kit that works on the classic boats like on the new ones.

If you feel macho enough, you can even just push it up without any of that stuff or maybe some help with a friend.

I recommend you just build your own gin pole. There are other threads here discussing it, and with a link to a site that shows you how to build one step by step. Probably cheaper than the bwyachts one, and would not need retrofit of MRS or the step.
