26M rudder lines

Can someone please advise how the rudder line system works I understand how you drop and raise the rudders with the line which cleats on the deck, but what function does the line which goes into the tube at the stern base of the hull do ?...Can't find an explanantion in the manual ? Thanks

The line is a continuous loop. To lower, uncleat the part of the line that holds the rudder up. Then pull up on the line going through the tube until you hit the stopper (a bolt near the top of the rudder which will be up against the rudder bracket.) Hold tight and cleat off the line. This will hold the rudder down in place so the water pressure doesn't kick it up. Then take up the slack from the uphaul portion of the line so it doesn't get caught on anything like the prop and cleat that off. To raise, reverse the process.

No tying off anything. Just drop in the v cleat when raising or lowering it...and it requires half the effort to raise due to the blocks..and will kick up if it gets caught in anything.
