I have a pretty good gouge about 6" long in my rub rail, has anyone ever just replaced/spliced a small section?

Thanks,

Rick

I repaired mine with 3M 4200 (or 5200...can't remember which). Used a putty knife to apply/smooth it out some. It doesn't look perfect, but it covered up the "holes" and "gaps" and "splits" and you would only notice it if you were looking for it.

Do a search for "rub rail repair" and you will find some threads on this topic.

Good Luck,
Jim

Haven't spliced in a repair, but replaced the rail last year. Was an amazingly easy job, but very time consuming. Make sure it's warm and sunny, and have a roll of painters tape and a couple large tubes of 4200. Got the rub rail from Bluewater Yachts (you can get the caps from the rear from them now as well)

Where in Ohio are you located?
