Bowspit

Post by Jack O'Brien »

Somebody mentioned MacGregor may be coming out with a bowspit next month but a search doesn't find it.

I want to install an anchor bow roller on my X and would like to know more about the bowspit before I mount the roller in the wrong place.

Anybody know anything about the bowspit?

Jack: You can find a picture of the rig on the MacGregor factory website. As you will see, the sprit attaches to the deck and extends some distance out over the bow. It appears to be removeable and made out of the same material as the mast.

Jack, the one thing I know about the bowspit is....don't do it when heading into the wind...only do it when running with a big wind behind you. This also applies to the bowpee btw.

Sorry Pal, couldn't resist that one...

Retracting Pole for Spinnaker

Post by Jack O'Brien »

http://www.macgregor26.com/comparison_26x_and_26m.htm

The very bottom paragraph says Roger is working on a 5-foot retracting pole for the M.

http://www.macgregor26.com/spinnakers.htm

This shows a RACING spinnaker using a 6-foot removeable bowsprit.
