Replacement Trailer in New England?

Hi All,
OK, we're looking for a new trailer. We've searched "replacement trailer" and have found the guy's in FL, CA, and Ebay, (discontinued). Does anybody here in New England have a good line on a replacement, (non-Mac) trailer for a :macx: ? What brand's and or dealer's do you like? Did you go off the shelf or custom? Looking for Galvinized or Alum, Surge Brakes, and probably Duel Axle. In the two weeks we've had it I've gotten really attached to the ladder on the front.

Hi SailDog- Have the same problem, cannot find a local mfg. for a comparable trailer. did get a quote for a dble. tandeem trailer but was much too expensive. If you find a mfg. tell them you will buy 2 or 3 and let me know.

So far, I've spoken with Precision trailers in NY and Ace in Florida.

Both aluminum, dual axle. Precision qotes about $3500 delivered. No brakes.

Ace wants $3500 for the trailer, with brakes, and 800 to deliver it ($400 if I meet him in NY). Ace also reproduces the ladder up front, which I like. Ace also claims to have made about 20 trailers for Macs, which I also lke. With Precision, I spoke with sales. With Ace, I spoke with the owner. I get more confidence with the owner and I also know that at least one member of this forum has bought from Ace and was happy.

Anyone ever buy from Precision?

I purchased an aluminum trailer from Ace Trailers, Tampa, Florida in January, 2008.
The owner spent two hours with me, at the factory, adjusting
the trailer bunks for a perfect fit on my boat.
The Ace trailer was the best I could find for the 26X, and the price was
considerably lower than the prices from the national trailer factories.
Jack, Gostosa, Lake Worth, Florida, has an Ace trailer for his 26X.

Luke - thanks for the reply. Did you drive your boat on the old trailer all the way to Tampa from Ohio?

Are you happy with the trailer? Based on your experience, do you think it is necessary to have the boat in Tampa to have it fit properly?

Rob,

I did not haul the boat and trailer from Ohio to Tampa for the trailer exchange;
my boat was already in the Tampa Bay area.

I could have taken the trailer home without the adjustments they made for me at the factory.
They simply adjusted the bunks for a better fit to the boat.

Ace Trailers has the specifications on-hand for our MacGregors,
and they can build a trailer in something like four hours.

They delivered a better trailer, and in one half the time I had expected.
The marine trailer factory in my neighborhood in Ohio wanted $1,000 to $1,500 more for a similar trailer;
they wanted six weeks to build it;
and they would not take the time to adjust the trailer with the boat on the trailer.

Ace installed "plastic" brake lines (nice), and they installed a better grade of marine disk brakes and a better brake actuator than I had specified in the sales order.
A really cool feature on the trailer is the large bow ladder,
and the ladder has a railing.

If you want pictures, specifications or pricing, send me a PM.
