The MUCK about sounds fun! We're new to the MAC family, but sailing is a lifelong addiction. Just arranged for marina storage off Middle River/ Sue Creek for the year. We are tied up with other activities July 12th, but with a little luck could perhaps sail across Saturday to join up at Rock Hall July 13th, and return home Sunday... we'll see what we can do for 2013. Thanks for organizing and posting!

Need a recommendation for a marina in Annapolis for Thursday, 11 July.

My marina is off the Rhodes river. You can pass the main anchorage area and keep going for another half a mile. You will find and area protected from weather in all directions. Usually bigger boats don't go that far. Watch out for the shoals to port when you see a little island that is mostly sand and two trees.
Annapolis City Marina is a great place, you only have to walk across the bridge and you are in the main strip.
Besides the two restaurants in Galesville there is not much to do (I recommend Thursday's over Pirate's cove), so I would plan to maximize time in Annapolis where you can have plenty of time to walk around all the way up to the state capitol and right by the Academy.
From Rhodes river you will have a great sail to Saint Michaels. Are you anchoring out or staying at one of the marinas?
On your way to or from Annapolis you can stop by my favorite restaurant, it is on the South River called Yellowfin, it is to starboard after the bridge.

Thanks Pedro... I'll need to let this marinate for a couple of days. May PM you off-line to make sure I haven't made any time and distance mistakes with my plans for the week before the MUCK. Awesome gouge on the area. My plan is to drop the hook in the Rhodes River and off Galesville. Go pierside in St Michaels and Annapolis.

We stayed at payed Annapolis City Docksin Thursday night. In the middle of downtown.

We'll be sailing the area the week before. Initial planning has us launching at Sandy Point on Sunday, 6 July and heading down to the Rhode River to anchor overnight, Monday we're heading to St. Michaels, Tuesday in St Michaels, Wednesday back across the bay to Galesville, then Thursday heading back to Annapolis. Friday we'll join up with the group. If we're trailering for 9 hrs, we've got to stay longer than a weekend.

Bob, My calendar has Sunday in July as the 7th not the 6th.
I don't know if you have family or friends in Galesville but you might consider going ENE from Sandy Print if you have some extra days to spend exploring the Chesapeake. Head across the Bay up the Chester river overnight at Castle marina ($1.75-$2.00/ft) 11mi or one of my favorite and secluded spots where Pedro, Jim and I had our Raft-up, Earle Cove 16mi (very shallow entrance). Across from Earle Cove is Easten Neck Island National wildlife Refuge. You can find good anchoring there too in 3-5ft water. There is a small dock and ramp, hiking trails a historty plack and porta potties there too.
From ether of these spot south to St.Michaels go under the Kent Narrows Drawbridge (6am-9pm :00 &:30) it's about 18 to 20mi depending on your overnight spot. You can anchor or find a slip there. Crab Claw Restaurant has a dinghy dock. Check out the Maritime Museum and walk the quaint streets.
From St.Michaels 24 mi to the Rhode River. When you pass south of Kent Island you would only be 7mi north of Tighman Island another great destination.
Of course don't miss Annapolis as Pedro mentioned and plan on a day there. There are meny great destinations on the Chesapeake, but only so much time before retirement, have fun with it. If you want to do the Baltimore Inner Harbor I have an idea for that too. I have more detail and info, if you need PM me

Later this summer we will be on I-64 paralleling the York River. Any one with launch site ideas close to the inlet? Tow vehicle and trailer storage is not an issue.

Thanks for the offer Tony. Looking at the map, we may reduce our stay at Sailing Emporium to just the 12th, 13th, and 14th for the sail, and stay at White Rocks from the 9th through 12th, because it'll take 3 hours a day of driving off going to all the DC monuments. I'll PM you.

if you are going to DC and for those days only using the boat as a base camp, you might want to stay further south on the western shore. Even Annapolis is closer to DC than Baltimore, but you can also stay in Deale or Galesville in MD which have easy access to DC and less than 1 hour commute. However, if you stay in Baltimore you can also just take the commuter Mark train to Union Station in DC. I would not recommend going from Rock Hall to DC, there is a lot of traffic in rush hour near the Bay bridge

Hi all!
For those that attended last years Muck About this is Bruce and Lesley who had the older 1993 "S" Classic "Nauti Time". We are planning to attend this years Muck About as well but with a differance. We sold our Mac and bought a year 2000 Catalina 320 last August/September. It is also named "Nauti Time". Although we don't own a Mac any longer we will take advantage of the "all welcome" since you all were such a fun bunch! We have to double check a few things but so far all looks clear for us to go as far as personal schedules go. We'll have to dinghy in though.

Reservations confirmed at the Annapolis City Docks for 11July and Sailing Emporium for 13 July... trying to drag along a buddie who just bought an O'Day 28 and keeps it in in Deal, MD.
