Totally open, with no restrictions now. They had us pretty well shut down around there after 9/11, but not now. I go down for shoulder surgery (again) on Tues, so it may be spring before I get up that way. No wild horses left on the Horse Heaven Hills, it's all vineyards, orchards and wheat fields now. Rattlesnake Ridge (Mountain) is still there and shrouded in mystery. I can see it from my house in Hermiston, OR.

( Hughes Air West... The Flying Bananas) Back in the day.. I had a friend who was a Federal Marshal out there..and he got me a couple rides in a chopper.. Is the whole dang place open to flybys now?
I was under the impression back then.. it was Pretty much... a 100% restricted area..
Do you ever fly over Horse Heaven Hills? Do Those Horses still exist?

No More Horses?? Kind of sad.. I have read a lot about the Vineyards and Orchards..( all those folks were battling even way back then.) One of my Greatest Experiences was Camping down by the river one night when ( I Assume) It was a Wild Stallion.. who was making all the ruckus above us..My Buddy at the time said we must have camped in one of "HIS" watering areas..The next day we moved camp a few hundred yards up.. river...

There are still wild horses around, just not in the area that you are thinking about. BLM trapped and moved a bunch of them to an area further to the north, west of Toppenish.
