Hi All!
I’m quite touched that Dl resurrected my 2016 discussion. I haven’t been around much but you guys are near and dear to my heart
I’m trying to get Miss Ollie ready for this season. It’s been a hull of a year And years. I just got over Covid - Again! [3x!]
& like one’s beloved dog - I got all my shots! Lol.
Sadly, this February, my boat’s inspiration and namesake, my mother - Ollie Gray passed away at 91. We had the privilege of her company the past few years, living in our home. And there she passed. I’m moving a bit slower these days as we readjust. Nevertheless, my family and I are grateful and thankful for the Very special times we have had and now even more, cherish.
So, getting ready for this season has also meant maintaining and upgrading some of my most important mods.
1. My oversized 8x6’ Bimini had to be changed out. Darned flatulent seagulls from last year ruined my bimini
2. I fried my AGM banks and just bought 4 LifePO4 100Ah batteries. 2 wired in parallel to give me a 200 Ah House Bank. And a 100Ah 24V bank [2 batts] to feed my 72” bow trolling motor. -idk if I listed that mod
I use it to silently glide , backup and even a bow thruster, all as needed with remote control. I recommend The LifePO upgrade. It’ll double your house AHs at a third to half of the weight if you use golf batts, or AGMs etc.
3. I just reconnected my 22 gal bow water system for sink, transom wash down and propane hot water shower system.
4. I “Macguyvered” a Separate tiller steering control from the hydraulic steering for sailing and using the rudders. I’m hoping to get a better feel sailing and have backup steering should motor fail [had 3x]. Am glad I have the 24V bow trolling motor
Although I didn’t put the mast on last year & used trawler mode; Now that gas is creeping towards 6 bucks! - “Hoist up the John B sail! See how the main sail sets”…
5. The 115 Etec was serviced at end of last season so - ready to go. [for any inquiring I think the 3 cyl 90 is optimal for macs.]
And I’ll be putting in a new VHF in the cabin. And a new SiriusXM/ BT/ AM FM Radio with exterior and interior speakers.
This and a few dozen other forgotten reboots and hopefully Miss Ollie will be on her mooring soon
