Unfortunately can’t say the same for the Midwest and the southern states…except maybe for retirees. Even with a couple of car assembly plants and Boeing it’s still a hard sell to get talented, skilled and educated people to move and stay in these regions. Same goes for tech companies even though these places are giving away any hope of developing their infrastructure with the overly generous tax incentives.

Although I’m retired I still keep in contact with prior clients and people in a variety of states plus I’m a tech nerd and can’t help following the demographic tech industry trends. Companies like Elon Musk type are actually outliers for the most part. The role of increasingly right wing political environments has something to do with it as red states have consistently seen year over year declines whereas blue states have held even or seen consistent year over year growth. I’m not sure why that is but the data is what the data is.

I am glad at least that you enjoyed your time while you were there, for at least some of the time, in California. We do miss it …a lot… even though we are now in both New England and South Carolina for the foreseeable future. The upside of the East Coast are the waterways like the ICW and the interconnectiveness that can at least dream of doing some serious long distance cruising without having protracted segments in Blue Water. Sort of the perfect environment for a Mac26X or Mac26M to keep one entertained for hopefully years to come.
