I doubt you will be at the back of the pack with whatever boat you find (if we sail, otherwise motoring you might be).
Anyway, after leaving you and Dick last summer I spent close to 2 weeks in or around Juneau and there were at least 2 Mac 26m's in the marina I was in, maybe you can borrow one or convince them to join NR2017?
Of course you are always welcome to crew with us for NR2017, but I am pretty sure my seamanship skills would try your patience. Cliff

Just so happens I just heard back from the sellers of our next boat...Pretty happy with the deal, but still have some work ahead prior to trip north but nothing we can't handle. We' can be the 'Mother Ship' at 42' LOA (37 LOD still sounds more impressive at 42) We're looking at starting north in mid to late April, and going to try and break it into 2 parts Vancouver to Ketchikan (with Mother and Father in-law as they've done the trip several times in Power boats), then I'll go grab the family and finish up with the admiral and kids the rest of the way exploring as we go. I'll post some pics as soon as its singed in blood. You'll be happy to hear it comes with a bigger tender

Can't see much, but it looks like a canoe stern. Maybe a Young Sun.

Canoe stern yes, bigger and heavier than a YS, but we did offer and look at one of those. No teak decks, cutter, rigged, great condition inside and out, rigging was questionable so having it re-done prior to departure, also giving the Perkins a good tune up before the shake down.

Ahhh all that wood just gives me nightmares of sandpaper and varnish.

Give me the nice clean gelcoat interior of my X any day, just a bit of spray and wipe and a cloth and she looks all shiny and pretty again

And the winner is... Yes T37 1980 mix of the standard ketch and cutter layout. With no charge for interior customisation when ordering from Ta Yang almost no two interiors are alike. I don't mind the upkeep on the bright work and with the teak deck gone many many years ago it not the 'leaky teaky' most Taiwanese boats have been come to be known as.

i feel similarly to you.
i just find my a tad too small- not as good a sailer as i would really like- and hate the euro styling
so am in the process, with chosen NA- designing a motor sailer- 33' ish x 10'- totally trailerable. water/lead ballasted. inside helm station. pilot house. full amenities. removable tiller steer. twin dagger boards. but with old school salty lines- kind of retro motor yacht x sleek schooner type sail hull. many different sail plan options- but a modern boat under the old school appeal.
i know how you feel YB- just need something a wee bit more than the mac- more space- and there just really isnt anything out there in the market place for that- so i have resorted to building my own- might be a lot quicker, cheaper and easier if we could just find something to buy!!
