Yes, sorry about the off topic, but I or..."the Admral" hit our :macm: centre board this late summer. She was motoring, about 6 knts. It went shallow real fast and folded that puppy right back. When I dove under, it was 45 degrees aft with destroyed fibreglass all over and it opened right up. When I surfaced and took my mask off, as politely as I could say...it's wrecked. I cut the ropes, dropped it in shallow water.

I found a local guy to repair it in a couple days for 125 bucks. I asked him not make it stronger than stock if he could, as I am glad it broke without damaging the trunk. He did an alright job, visually does not look like new, but more than good enough to live under the water. I thought it was un-repairable. He looked at it and instantly said no problem, come back I a couple days.

My poor wife felt terrible, now she doesn't want to drive. I told her better that than up on the rocks.

Back to the topic, I was set on an M for many reasons, however as time passes, I think the X is a great boat as well. They each have goods and bads. I really like the cockpit of an X, but like the sailing qualities of an M. I also wanted a newer boat as these boats can wear out quicker due to cheaper materials. In hind sight, I think a well looked after X is a good buy, and a lot cheaper than an 09 :macm:
